I took Martha's class a few months ago and it was great! I would highly recommend taking this class even if you've been using a chainsaw without formal training liked I have been.

Elkin Valley Trails Association will be hosting a three-day Chainsaw Safety Course this April and wanted to share the opportunity with partner organizations who may have staff or volunteers interested in formal chainsaw training.

The course will be taught by Martha Becton of Becton Trails and is based on the US Forest Service Thinking Sawyer curriculum. It includes classroom instruction, hands-on field training, and a field evaluation with certificate of completion up to the B Sawyer, Bucking Only level.

Organizations that manage trails, conservation lands, or municipal properties may find this especially valuable for building internal capacity and ensuring consistent safety standards across crews.

Session A: April 11–13

Session B: April 14–16
